Sikkim team gears up for youth festival

Gangtok, Sikkim Jan. 6: The National Youth Festival, which is organised to celebrate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, would be held in Amritsar from 12 January. The festival would continue till 16 January.
A team of 100 from Sikkim will be leaving soon for the festival, that aims to encourage unemployed youth and NGOs. Participants between 18 to 25 will perform folk dance at the festival. Cultural experts have selected the team members from the three ethnic groups of Sikkim i.e. Bhutia, Lepcha and Nepali, after a competition in Gangtok. The organisers of the National Youth Festival award Rs 25,000 to all the states. This year’s award for Sikkim has been announced in favour of Mr LP Pandey for his contribution in the field of social work
